She is without power, no heat, and only has water which I am trying to keep running. She is unemployed due to losing her job and she can't get unemployment because they consider her unfit to work for anxiety meds! She has food stamps but nowhere to put the food! The temp in her house was almost 34 degrees and she is nearly catching phemonia. She has nowhere to go and I live several states away. I am so frustrated I don't know what to do. I called the power company and they would not talk to me unless my mother authorized them to talk to me about the account, which is extremely difficult since she has no phone. When she was able to finally call the power company and get ahold of my they told her if she cant pay her bill she can just freeze to death! Considering how the old man froze to death in Michigan I am afraid of the same thing happening to my mother! I need advice on what to do. I don't have the money to pay all her electric bills and she is not fit to go walking / driving around to try and find help due to her condition. This is in Hobart Indiana and her power company is Nipsco. Any help is greatly appreciated. I live several states away and would take nearly a week to get to her and would cost more money then I have. Her electric bill is 1900, which I don't have.
